Ashton is under the spotlight following a study of town centre's across Greater Manchester to assess there strengths, challenges and opportunities.

Drivers Jonas LLP led a multi-disciplinary project team with Regeneris Consulting and Waterman Boreham instructed by The Commission for the New Economy and Manchester Enterprises to undertake the Greater Manchester town centre's study: "assessing the economic role of the key town centre's in the delivery of employment growth aspirations for Greater Manchester".

The Council and its partners are now engaged in bringing forward investment opportunities in the town to capitalise on the Metrolink extension to Ashton; the historic market and existing investments including IKEA; The Arcades and Ladysmith Shopping Centre's.
